Our client was keen to have borders with a natural look and suggested ferns, but inspection showed that the soil and aspect were not suitable. I suggested that grasses in the planting plan would give a natural look. They add movement alongside perennials and retain their shape and colour into the winter months.
He was delighted, naturally.
